About Sam

Sam Straus was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He attended Oakwood School in North Hollywood, completing grades K-12, and spent his summers as a counselor at Camp Alonim in Simi Valley.

Driven by an early interest in business, Sam began selling old United States coins and currency on eBay at 14, starting with under $300. Since then, his business has generated over $500,000 in revenue. This entrepreneurial spirit carried through his academic journey.

Sam began college at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business before transferring to Cornell University’s Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management. While at Cornell, he broadened his experiences by studying abroad—spending the spring of 2023 at the University of Cambridge (Pembroke College) and the fall of 2023 at the University of Oxford (Lady Margaret Hall). He graduated summa cum laude with distinction in research in May 2024.

Sam is a data-driven, people-oriented person with a growth mindset. His passion for making a positive impact is evident through his leadership roles in various organizations and his commitment to continuous learning.
